Calvary Chapel Northwoods
We are a no nonsense, come as you are kind of church and the focus of our worship is Jesus Christ.
On a typical Sunday morning we provide a relaxed atmosphere to worship Jesus in spirit & truth. Our worship is contemporary and the focus of the Worship Ministry is God Himself.
Sunday School is available for children through age 11.
To help us grow more in Christ and be conformed to His image through the power of the Holy Spirit, we simply teach thru the bible verse by verse pointing people to Jesus Christ, who alone is sufficient for our every need. As we walk through the “whole counsel of God,” Acts 20:27, we will learn more of Him, put less confidence in ourselves and trust and obey Him even more. This is the call of discipleship.
It is our desire to grow in the love of God, then in His love for one another, our communities, and to the utter ends of the world, Acts 1:8.
We provide many opportunities to get involved in local out reach and to fulfill the great commission by supporting missions.
Calvary History
History of the Calvary Movement
Calvary Chapel began in the 1960’s in Costa Mesa, California under the leadership of Chuck Smith. What began as a ministry to the younger generation of the 60’s, mainly surfers and hippies in a small Bible study, has grown to a church of 30,000 people in Costa Mesa and a worldwide affiliation of churches with over 1200 throughout the world.
And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:46
Calvary Chapel – Northwoods is part of this fellowship & expression of the body of Christ.
We had our beginning in March 2003, as a home fellowship of a few women which grew. Pastor Wade and his family commuted from another city once a week and began Thursday night bible studies.
The lord brought growth and starting in June 2003, we rented a little white church for almost 2 years. In May 2005, Pastor Wade and family moved to Grand Rapids and the within the first week started Sunday services.

About Our Pastor
After coming to the Lord, I stepped out to love Jesus by loving others. For me, that meant going to Russia in 1992, to serve in the mission field with CCCPM where God blessed me with my wife, Connie.
In 1994, the Lord lead me to pastor a new church plant in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. After 5 years, we turned the Nizhny church over to the nationals and moved our young family back to the US where I was an assistant pastor at City Calvary Chapel in Seattle, WA.
Sensing the call to step out in faith and church plant again, the Lord graciously uprooted my growing family. We moved to Bemidji, MN to support a new work, Calvary Chapel, Bemidji in 2003.
Within a few months, my family and I commuted once a week to Grand Rapids to facilitate a home fellowship meeting. A little over 2 years later, we moved to Grand Rapids and Sunday services started.
After loosing our meeting place in Grand Rapids in 2011, the Lord provided a building for us to call home 5 miles east of Grand Rapids in Coleraine, MN. We have been blessed with fellowship and a wonderful body of believers. We are excited to see what the Lord will continue to do with us and His church as we seek Him first and His righteousness. Amen!
